MANGO TOOR DAL (TANGY MANGO DAL)

Ingredients :
- Toor dal (yellow pigeon peas) – 1 heaped cup
- Ripe mango – 1 medium (peeled, chopped)
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Curry leaves – 10–12
- Salt – to taste
- Ghee / oil – 2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – 2 tsp
- Fresh coriander (cilantro) – ¼ cup (finely chopped)
Method:
- Wash pigeon peas well. Boil with 3 cups water → simmer for 10 mins till partially soft.

Add mango, turmeric, salt, spices, curry leaves + 1 cup water.
Cook for 20 mins till soft and mushy.(Dry roast peanuts, sesame, spices + coconut → grind → use as homemade garam masala.) -
Heat ghee/oil → add cumin seeds till aromatic.
Add coriander leaves → switch off. -
Mash dal lightly → add tempering → simmer for 5 mins.
Adjust salt and serve.
