Ingredients
- Bewild Raktha Shaili red rice -1 cup
- Water (hot) - 4 cups
- Salt to taste (optional)
Cooking Time

Method: Traditional open vessel
- Rinse Raktha Shaili red rice 2–3 times with regular water.
- Soak the rinsed rice in hot water overnight, or for at least 6–8 hours, using a 1:4 rice-to-water ratio.
- In the morning, strain the soaking water and add 2 additional cups of fresh water (for a total of 6 cups, maintaining a 1:6 rice-to-water ratio for cooking).
- Bring the water to a boil. Once it starts boiling, add the soaked Raktha Shaili rice.
- Check the texture after 20 minutes of cooking. The rice typically takes 30–40 minutes to cook completely.
- Once cooked, turn off the heat and strain any excess water.
- Let the rice rest for 5 minutes, then serve with your favourite curries, chutneys, or dals.
